VANCOUVER, CANADA – Ivanhoe Mines (TSX: IVN; OTCQX: IVPAF) announced today that the company has issued its initial Sustainability Report.

The report provides an overview of Ivanhoe Mines’ sustainability programs and initiatives conducted in 2017, highlighting the significant accomplishments achieved and the new goals set for current and future corporate activities.

The Ivanhoe Mines Sustainability Report 2017 has been filed on the SEDAR website at www.sedar.com and on the Ivanhoe Mines website at www.ivanhoemines.com.

“The leadership of Ivanhoe Mines is committed to leveraging our role as a leading Canadian mining exploration and development company to support our stakeholders, guide responsible choices, engage in sustainable best practices and build modern, safe, mechanized mines that will employ a new generation of highly-skilled employees,” said Executive Chairman Robert Friedland.

“The past 20 years have seen Ivanhoe teams make two of the world’s best mineral discoveries in Southern Africa and acquire a third, equally compelling mine development and upgrading project. While we continue to explore for another tier-one mineral discovery, we are focused on the responsible development of our three projects into outstanding mines that will have minimal impact on the environment and help to advance local communities.”

In his introduction to the report, President and Chief Executive Officer Lars-Eric Johansson notes that the new report outlines how Ivanhoe works with its partners, host communities and employees to achieve sustainability objectives.

“We operate under clear, value-based principles of excellence, personal accountability, integrity and social and environmental responsibility. Working with our employees, contractors and the people of the communities in which we operate, we strive to build strong and lasting relationships to address stakeholders’ interests, employ leading-edge technology, improve safety practices and minimize our impact on the environment.”
